A woman was arrested for driving under the influence after she crashed into a police car which was parked on the highway to divert trafffic after an earlier accident.
Around 3:40 am Saturday, police officers responded to an accident at the Churchill Roosevelt Highway and Orange Grove Road intersection. Officers said they positioned the marked police car diagonally with emergency lights on, leaving the right lane open for traffic.
They said a black Toyota Aqua, driven by a Belmont woman, collided with the parked police vehicle.
While no one was injured, both vehicles were damaged.
The woman was tested for driving under the influence and recorded a breath alcohol reading of 79 micrograms, exceeding the legal limit. Police arrested her and took her to the Arouca Police Station, where charges are expected.
