A woman was ar­rest­ed for dri­ving un­der the in­flu­ence af­ter she crashed in­to a po­lice car which was parked on the high­way to di­vert trafff­ic af­ter an ear­li­er ac­ci­dent.

Around 3:40 am Sat­ur­day, po­lice of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to an ac­ci­dent at the Churchill Roo­sevelt High­way and Or­ange Grove Road in­ter­sec­tion. Of­fi­cers said they po­si­tioned the marked po­lice car di­ag­o­nal­ly with emer­gency lights on, leav­ing the right lane open for traf­fic. 

They said a black Toy­ota Aqua,  dri­ven by a Bel­mont woman, col­lid­ed with the parked po­lice ve­hi­cle.

While no one was in­jured, both ve­hi­cles were dam­aged.

The woman was test­ed for dri­ving un­der the in­flu­ence and record­ed a breath al­co­hol read­ing of 79 mi­cro­grams, ex­ceed­ing the le­gal lim­it. Po­lice ar­rest­ed her and took her to the Arou­ca Po­lice Sta­tion, where charges are ex­pect­ed.
