Well Services Petroleum Company Ltd says it has hired a third-party company to supply the specialised equipment required for the recovery of Pete Phillip’s body.
The company did not name the organisation but said it was “a highly regarded provider of advanced equipment with the requisite expertise for this type of operation.”
A statement yesterday said, “This engagement will enable the company to accelerate its efforts to ensure the recovery of Pete Phillip in compliance with all safety and environmental protocols.”
Well Services also said a WhatsApp group was created to facilitate direct and timely updates with family members.
“This group has been instrumental in providing information to ensure that persons are kept in the loop regarding the status and progress of the recovery efforts. The latest update to the family was provided yesterday,” it said.
On January 10, Well Services said it had located Phillip’s body.
At 3.09 am on December 22, 2024, Rig 110 partially collapsed with 75 personnel onboard. One person sustained injuries and was in stable condition and sent for medical care. Phillip was never found.
