Two new deaths from COVID-19 have brought the na­tion­al death toll from the dis­ease to 74 per­sons, re­ports the Min­istry of Health in its up­date for this morn­ing, Tues­day 29 Sep­tem­ber 2020.

And the Min­istry notes that both per­sons are el­der­ly males who had pre-ex­ist­ing health con­di­tions.

The Health Min­istry al­so re­ports this morn­ing, that some 55 ad­di­tion­al per­sons have test­ed pos­i­tive for COVID-19, with the to­tal num­ber of ac­tive cas­es now at 1,913.

It con­firms that in ac­cor­dance with es­tab­lished pro­to­cols, these 55 new pa­tients will be processed for ad­mis­sion at the dis­cre­tion of the CMOHs.

Mean­while, more peo­ple con­tin­ue to re­cov­er from COVID-19, the Min­istry says:

●  Some 105 per­sons have been dis­charged from pub­lic health fa­cil­i­ties.  The to­tal num­ber of per­sons dis­charged, to date, is 1,036.

●  About 74 per­sons are re­cov­ered com­mu­ni­ty cas­es, i.e. per­sons who were pre­vi­ous­ly COVID-19 pos­i­tive and in self-iso­la­tion at home, and sub­se­quent­ly met the dis­charge cri­te­ria and were re­leased from self-iso­la­tion.

●  The to­tal num­ber of re­cov­ered com­mu­ni­ty cas­es is now 1,418 per­sons.

●  On­ly 12 per­sons re­main in step-down / tran­si­tion fa­cil­i­ties—four in UWI Debe, and eight in To­ba­go.
