An in­ves­ti­ga­tion is now un­der­way in­to the theft of a Spe­cial Re­serve Po­lice­man's (SRP) per­son­al gun, af­ter he left his Po­lice Sta­tion's Christ­mas Din­ner ear­ly on Fri­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the 46-year-old of­fi­cer at­tend­ed the event on Thurs­day night and left just af­ter mid­night on Fri­day.

The of­fi­cer told in­ves­ti­ga­tors that he be­gan feel­ing un­well while dri­ving and drove on­to Baz­zard Street, Monte Grande, Tu­na­puna, where he lost con­scious­ness.

The of­fi­cer then re­port­ed that he awoke at around 10 am on Fri­day and no­ticed his Smith and Wes­son pis­tol which con­tained 17 rounds of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion was miss­ing from the hol­ster on his waist.

He al­so no­ticed four spent shells on the rear floor of the car and an­oth­er spent shell out­side the dri­vers side door.

Of­fi­cers of the Tu­na­puna CID are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
