An investigation is now underway into the theft of a Special Reserve Policeman's (SRP) personal gun, after he left his Police Station's Christmas Dinner early on Friday morning.
Police said the 46-year-old officer attended the event on Thursday night and left just after midnight on Friday.
The officer told investigators that he began feeling unwell while driving and drove onto Bazzard Street, Monte Grande, Tunapuna, where he lost consciousness.
The officer then reported that he awoke at around 10 am on Friday and noticed his Smith and Wesson pistol which contained 17 rounds of 9 mm ammunition was missing from the holster on his waist.
He also noticed four spent shells on the rear floor of the car and another spent shell outside the drivers side door.
Officers of the Tunapuna CID are continuing enquiries.
