As Trinidad and Tobago and the Federative Republic of Brazil commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne welcomed Brazil's External Relations Minister Mauro Vieira for a flag raising ceremony at the Ministry.
According to Dr Browne, Brazil and T&T share similar interests and principles.
“In particular, a focus on peace and development. A focus on South-South collaboration. A focus on ensuring that the Caribbean Sea remains—and is maintained as—a ‘zone of peace’. A focus on health care for all our people,” Dr Browne said.
Both ministers signed a Letter of Intent, which includes a Memorandum of Understanding on a political and air transport agreement.
The Foreign Minister noted the intention to strengthen and deepen the existing friendship between both countries.
“Some of those include the field of Sport. We all know that Brazil is a giant in the sporting arena,” the minister noted.
“It also includes collaboration in Culture. We’ve also discussed the potential for tourism linkages between Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago,” he added.
Dr Browne says Brazil has been a valuable friend to this country, particularly in the health care arena.
