To­ba­go in­ves­ti­ga­tors are search­ing for sus­pects in­volved in a mur­der at Tur­tle Beach, Black Rock, af­ter a man was found slumped over in a van yes­ter­day.

Po­lice said the de­ceased was 32-year-old Ver­na­do George, al­so known as “Mon­ster,” of Stud­ley Park. He was an em­ploy­ee of Gen­con Ltd, which was con­tract­ed to cut trees on be­half of T&TEC.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, George was hav­ing lunch with three oth­er work­ers when two masked men, dressed in blue jumpers and armed with firearms, ap­proached him while he was sit­ting in the back of a ve­hi­cle. The as­sailants opened fire, shoot­ing him mul­ti­ple times be­fore flee­ing in­to near­by bush­es.

An eye­wit­ness told Guardian Me­dia he saw two young men run up to the vic­tim, shoot him, and es­cape on foot.

Of­fi­cers from the Guard and Emer­gency Branch, the In­ter-Agency Task Force, the Homi­cide Bu­reau, and the To­ba­go op­er­a­tions po­lice ser­vice re­spond­ed to the scene.

George is To­ba­go’s third mur­der vic­tim for 2025. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
