A 19-year-old man was shot and killed on Friday night in what appears to be a targeted attack.
Junior Cleary, of LP 22 Dibe Road, Long Circular, St James, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds around 10:50 pm on Benares Street. Responding officers from the St James Police Station discovered Cleary lying on the pavement, gasping for breath. He had a severe head wound, with blood flowing from his left temple and nasal area.
Cleary was immediately transported to the St James Medical Infirmary, where he was pronounced dead at 11:23 pm.
Investigators recovered four spent .45 calibre shells, nine 9mm spent shells, and three deformed projectiles from the crime scene. The body was later removed to Grace Funeral Home under police escort.
WPC Prince is leading the investigation, and authorities are working to determine the motive behind the killing. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
