A teenager who tried to rob a man selling a dog on Saturday morning was killed.
It was later revealed that the weapon he used was a toy gun.
Around 3:25 pm, a 61-year-old man and his 10-year-old daughter were delivering a dog to Maingotville, Claxton Bay. Upon arrival, the 18-year-old, who pretended to be a customer, told them to drive to Ben Winchester Street. There, he pulled out a gun, demanded the dog and other valuables, and announced a robbery.
The teen, identified as Christian Patterson from Pranz Gardens, Claxton Bay, aimed the gun at them. The victim, a licensed gun owner, feared for his life and his daughter's safety. In response, he fired eight shots at Patterson, who ran a short distance before collapsing.
