Six sus­pects were ar­rest­ed and three firearms seized by of­fi­cers in the North East­ern, Cen­tral and Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sions, yes­ter­day in­to this morn­ing.

Of­fi­cers of the Mor­vant Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, NED Gang and In­tel­li­gence Unit and per­son­nel of the Trinidad and To­ba­go De­fence Force, re­spond­ed to a re­port of shoot­ing in the Mal­ick dis­trict  be­tween 7:30 pm and 11:30 pm, on Jan­u­ary 5.

At the lo­ca­tion, of­fi­cers ob­served an aban­doned black Suzu­ki Swift.

They dis­cov­ered one Glock pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing six rounds of am­mu­ni­tion and one spent shell in the ve­hi­cle.

The ve­hi­cle was lat­er found to be bear­ing false reg­is­tra­tion plates and had been re­port­ed stolen from the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion in De­cem­ber 2024.

In the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, Area South, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise in the Cou­va and Freeport dis­tricts yes­ter­day af­ter­noon. Of­fi­cers stopped a gold-coloured Nis­san Ti­i­da at Siew­dass Road, Freeport.

They dis­cov­ered one pis­tol loaded with a mag­a­zine con­tain­ing six rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

The three oc­cu­pants of the ve­hi­cle, two men, ages 20 and 33, and one woman, aged 27, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

In the Port-of-Spain Di­vi­sion, an Op­er­a­tion BLAST ex­er­cise in the Sea Lots dis­trict, ear­ly this morn­ing, led to the ar­rest of three sus­pects and the seizure of one pis­tol loaded with 12 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

As­sis­tant Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice, ‘Tac­ti­cal Sup­port’, Col­lis Hazel, com­ment­ing on the find said, “The crim­i­nal el­e­ments may be pray­ing to not be brought to jus­tice, but our prayers are stronger and we are back­ing it up with strong, de­ter­mined po­lice work. They would do well to re­mem­ber, that no weapon formed against the TTPS and the cit­i­zens of Trinidad and To­ba­go, shall pros­per.”
