Two days af­ter the body of a miss­ing Cou­va man was found in the Ca­roni Riv­er, an­oth­er grue­some dis­cov­ery has been made.

Po­lice said the de­com­pos­ing body, be­lieved to be that of a woman, was found around 7 am yes­ter­day by mem­bers of the Hunters Search and Res­cue team, led by Val­lence Ramb­harat. 

The group was called in af­ter po­lice of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion on Wednes­day evening that an­oth­er body was spot­ted in the riv­er.

The uniden­ti­fied woman’s body was dis­cov­ered ap­prox­i­mate­ly two kilo­me­tres west of the Ca­roni Bridge, along the north­bound lane of the Uri­ah But­ler High­way.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors have not yet con­firmed whether the two dis­cov­er­ies, made just days apart, are con­nect­ed.  

Ramb­harat said that sim­i­lar to Tues­day’s dis­cov­ery, the woman’s body had be­come trapped un­der de­bris and branch­es in the riv­er.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the man found on Tues­day in the riv­er as Dami­an Nurse, who had been miss­ing for al­most a month.

In De­cem­ber last year, the body of Shi­va Lochan, who had al­so been miss­ing, was found float­ing in the Ca­roni Riv­er. An au­top­sy re­vealed he was shot in the head.
