A 23-year-old Cunupia man is in stable condition after he was shot and later crashed his car trying to escape bandits in Morvant on Friday afternoon.
Police said the man who sells cellphones and cellphone cases received an order for items at Crow Trace, Chinnapoo, and visited the area around 4 pm to make the delivery. The man was confronted by bandits but drove off before he was robbed. The bandits shot at the man’s silver Nissan Tiida, hitting him once in the upper right side of his back, causing him to crash his car into a traffic sign at the corner of William Avenue and Lady Young Road, Morvant.
Officers of the Morvant CID and the North Eastern Division Task Force were called in and took the wounded man to the hospital. He remained hospitalised up to late yesterday.
Investigators said bullet holes were also seen on the back right side window of the car. Officers visited the area in Crow Trace where the shooting began and found three spent 5.56 shell casings.—Shane Superville
