Police are searching for a woman who was reportedly dragged from her car and bundled into a van by a stranger following a minor road accident in Rousillac on Saturday.
According to a police report, a 36-year-old truck driver from South Oropouche was driving a white Mac TGX along the Southern Main Road, Rousillac, towards La Brea around 11.30 am when a silver-grey Nissan Sunny, driven by an Indo-Trinidadian woman, allegedly attempted to overtake and squeeze between his truck and another vehicle.
The Sunny struck the truck, causing damage. No one was injured.
The truck driver stopped, got out and walked towards the Sunny, which had pulled over a short distance away. He then saw a white H100 van travelling towards the La Brea district stop behind the car.
A thin, tall Afro-Trinidadian man wearing a black jersey and blue pants allegedly jumped out of the van, approached the Sunny, pulled the woman from the driver’s seat and bundled her into the vehicle.
The van then turned around and sped off towards the Oropouche district.
The truck driver reported the incident, prompting officers from the Highway Patrol Unit, the South Western Division Task Force and the Criminal Investigation Department to visit the scene and search for the H100. Their search was unsuccessful.
The Anti-Kidnapping Squad and La Brea CID have been alerted and provided with the truck driver’s statement and the information gathered.
Investigations are ongoing.
