A female passenger collapsed aboard the Buccoo Reef yesterday, as it made its way on the 6.30 am sailing from Port-of-Spain to Scarborough.
A video of the incident shared on social media by a passenger showed the woman unresponsive on her back while emergency responders performed CPR on her.
The eyewitness wrote, “They have been trying to get a response for 15 minutes.”
In a media release yesterday, the Port Authority confirmed the incident, adding that the vessel’s crew responded immediately and provided assistance.
It said emergency protocols were activated and the vessel returned to port accompanied by the Coast Guard.
The authority said ambulance personnel were waiting at the Port-of-Spain terminal and attended to the passenger upon the vessel’s arrival.
The woman was taken to the hospital. Her condition remains unknown.
