A minor is expected to be charged for the murder of 15-year-old Beris Joseph, Tobago’s first homicide for 2025.

Joseph’s body was found in the Mt. Hay area on January 4. The night before residents reported hearing gunshots in the area.

An autopsy revealed he was shot multiple times about the head and neck.

Days after his death, a disturbing video surfaced showing him bound and taunted before his death. At one point in the video children on bicycles circled him as he laid tied up on the street.

Speaking to Guardian Media, Joseph’s aunt, Angela Taylor, said the family is devastated but trying to cope.

Joseph was laid to rest two days ago.

She said the suspect is a close friend of the family and she is confused over what went wrong between Beris and the suspect that led to his death.

Yesterday DPP Roger Gaspard SC advised homicide investigators yesterday to proceed with charging the juvenile for Joseph’s murder.
