A heated dispute escalated into fatal gunfire as 30-year-old Nicholson Bowen, also known as “Balco”, was shot and killed near his home in Lendore Village on Friday evening.
According to police reports, Bowen was involved in an altercation with a group of young men from the area on Thursday. The tension reignited the following day around 5 pm, leading to another confrontation. Bowen later returned home but, around 5:30 pm, stepped outside onto the roadway, where gunfire erupted moments later.
First responders from the Central Division Task Force North arrived at the scene at 5:40 p.m., finding Bowen’s motionless body on the northern side of the roadway. He was clad in black three-quarter pants and shirtless, with multiple gunshot wounds. Seventeen spent 9mm shell casings, and a projectile was recovered at the scene.
The District Medical Officer pronounced Bowen dead, and his body was removed to Boodoo’s Funeral Home for safekeeping ahead of a post-mortem examination at the Forensic Science Centre.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are seeking information regarding the individuals involved in the prior altercations. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is urged to contact authorities.
