While many fam­i­lies are prepar­ing for Christ­mas, a La Ro­maine fam­i­ly is now in mourn­ing af­ter a fiery high­way crash claimed the life of a 50-year-old man on Sun­day.

De­tails sur­round­ing how Den­nis Ne­ho­rah, a fa­ther of two, ran off the road are still un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion, po­lice said.

Ini­tial re­ports in­di­cat­ed that around 1.30 pm, Ne­ho­rah was re­turn­ing from a gym in Gas­par­il­lo and had just merged on­to the south­bound lane of the Solomon Ho­choy High­way when he ap­par­ent­ly lost con­trol of his Mit­subishi Lancer.

The ve­hi­cle veered off the high­way in­to near­by bush­es and burst in­to flames.

Fire of­fi­cers lat­er ex­tin­guished the blaze, af­ter which Ne­ho­rah’s bad­ly burnt body was dis­cov­ered in­side.

As po­lice and fire of­fi­cers as­sessed the scene, dis­traught rel­a­tives stood along the road com­fort­ing each oth­er. Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that Ne­ho­rah was mar­ried for 19 years and lived in La Ro­maine.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer viewed the body, which was lat­er re­moved by un­der­tak­ers from Nicholas and Sons Fu­ner­al Home pend­ing an au­top­sy.
