While many families are preparing for Christmas, a La Romaine family is now in mourning after a fiery highway crash claimed the life of a 50-year-old man on Sunday.
Details surrounding how Dennis Nehorah, a father of two, ran off the road are still under investigation, police said.
Initial reports indicated that around 1.30 pm, Nehorah was returning from a gym in Gasparillo and had just merged onto the southbound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway when he apparently lost control of his Mitsubishi Lancer.
The vehicle veered off the highway into nearby bushes and burst into flames.
Fire officers later extinguished the blaze, after which Nehorah’s badly burnt body was discovered inside.
As police and fire officers assessed the scene, distraught relatives stood along the road comforting each other. Guardian Media understands that Nehorah was married for 19 years and lived in La Romaine.
A district medical officer viewed the body, which was later removed by undertakers from Nicholas and Sons Funeral Home pending an autopsy.
