Investigations are underway into the murder of Anthony “Tony Jackie” Seeriram, who was gunned down on Sunday afternoon at Church Street, Chickland.
Police said the 50-year-old Freeport resident, who had narrowly survived a recent attempt on his life, was fatally shot around 4.30 pm.
His body was found on the road. He had been shot multiple times, police said.
Police said Seeriram was accused of orchestrating fraudulent land sales and may have paid the ultimate price for his dealings.
Investigators also suspected that Seeriram had crucial information about the 2023 disappearance of brothers Matthew and Mikiel Hosein.
Matthew, 17, was last seen on August 25, 2023. Two months later, his older brother, Mikiel, 19, also went missing. His decomposing was found in December of that year.
Yesterday, the mother of the Hosein brothers, Rima, said she was hoping Seeriram would help bring closure.
“I’m sorry to hear about Anthony’s murder because he told me he would find out what happened to my sons,” she said. “I just need to know where Matthew is. I’m not sleeping. I just need to know if he’s alive or if he’s gone. If he’s gone, tell me where his body is at least.”
Investigations into all three murders are ongoing.
