Father Maurice White, who was badly beaten during a violent robbery in Vega de Oropouche, Sangre Grande, over the weekend, has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering.
The Archdiocese of Port of Spain has since expressed gratitude for the public’s support.
In its latest statement issued on Tuesday, the Archdiocese confirmed White’s discharge, stating:
"The Archdiocese of Port of Spain thanks everyone for their prayers and support following the recent incident involving Fr. White, who was a victim of a robbery. He has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering well."
The statement further emphasized that the Archdiocese is cooperating fully with the authorities and remains committed to "prayer, transparency, and justice."
Police officers intercepted and arrested three suspects reportedly involved in the robbery of Father Maurice shortly after the incident on Saturday, as they attempted to escape along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway, Freeport.
Police investigations are ongoing.
