Eight sus­pects were held and two firearms and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion seized, by of­fi­cers dur­ing var­i­ous an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es con­duct­ed on Wednes­day.

In the Port of Spain Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force, con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise around 4:30 pm, dur­ing which they pro­ceed­ed to the Bel­mont dis­trict.

There, they con­duct­ed a search at Bel­mont Val­ley Road, where they found one re­volver, loaded with five rounds of am­mu­ni­tion.

Four sus­pects, ages 18 to 36, all of the area, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

The ex­er­cise was di­rect­ed by ACP Col­lis Hazel and co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr. Supt. Spence, Supt. Ram­sook and ASP Singh.

In the West­ern Di­vi­sion, Task Force of­fi­cers con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 10 am and 2 pm, in the Diego Mar­tin dis­trict.

The ex­er­cise re­sult­ed in the dis­cov­ery of a home­made firearm, a mag­a­zine and eight rounds of am­mu­ni­tion hid­den in a drain at

Raphael Ter­race.

And, in the South­ern Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers of the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment Op­er­a­tions Unit and Task Force con­duct­ed an ex­er­cise be­tween 2:30 am and 6 am.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, four sus­pects, ages 21 to 35, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with var­i­ous of­fences, in­clud­ing rob­bery, lar­ce­ny and mur­der.
