Progressive Democratic Patriots political leader Watson Duke is calling on all Tobagonians aggrieved by the Farley Augustine-led Tobago House of Assembly to be prepared to treat members of the executive in the same manner as he was treated.
Duke made the comments this morning, after he claimed he was victimized and bullied by the Presiding Officer of the Assembly’s Legislature, Abby Taylor, during a Plenary Sitting on Thursday.
Duke was escorted out of the Chamber by police officers after he refused to remain quiet over concerns of insults by another member.
Speaking on CNC3's The Morning Brew show on Friday, Duke said he will not take the incident lightly.
“The Presiding Officer acted outside her limits,” he asserted. “She is not the Speaker of the House or President of the Senate, and she does not have sweeping powers. The rules do not provide for that.”
And during a press conference on Friday morning, the PDP leader promised that he will work to ensure the political death of the Tobago People Party.
“I’m saying to all Tobagonians, gather up the little fight you have left in your belly and get ready to vote them out. Vote them out! Get rid of them! Get rid of the entire slate. They must not win one single seat,” he said, “and none of them must get more than 100 votes.”
Duke vowed to “right the wrong” he believes he created when he selected the group to deal with Tobago affairs in the 2021 THA election.
