Leader of the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP), Watson Duke, wants soca artiste Machel Montana's lawyer—J. Larry Williams—to apologize for imputing improper motives to his use of the song “Buss Head”.
Bunji Garlin also sang the song alongside Machel Montano.
Duke used parts of the lyrics from “Buss Head” during a live Facebook broadcast on August 20, 2020, saying he had merely quoted parts of the song when he called two Tobago women "stink and dutty" during the campaign trail for the 2020 General Election.
Williams had called out Duke for the song's use, saying he had not sought permission from Machel, and used the song for his "own nefarious purposes".
In a release on August 23, Duke said the law permitted him to use parts of the song without permission from the owner.
However, Duke took offense that Machel's lawyer suggested that the song was used nefariously.
"I am prepared to accept an immediate and unequivocal retraction and an apology from Mr. Williams," Duke said in the release.
He said if there were no apology or retraction, he would take legal action against Machel's lawyer.
Contacted for comment on Duke's demand, Williams replied:
"I have no comment on that matter."
