The Minister of National Security, under the powers of the State of Emergency has issued a detention order for Calvin Lee also called ‘Tyson’.
The Legal Notice published today but ordered on January 17, said:
“I, the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister of National Security, in exercise of the powers conferred on me, do hereby order that the said Carlvin Lee, also called Tyson, of Tower 3, Apartment 57, Clifton Towers, St. Paul Street, Port-of-Spain, be detained, and do hereby authorise the Eastern Legal Supplement Part B—Vol. 64, No. 9—20th January, 2025 37 Correctional Rehabilitation Centre located at 26 Kilometre Mark, Churchill-Roosevelt Highway, Santa Rosa, Arima.”
The legal notice also notes Lee, "has been credibly identified as the leader of a known criminal organisation known as the SIXX gang, and as the person planning and intending to execute violent retaliatory reprisals or other violent actions involving the use of high-powered weapons and explosives, following an attempted hit on his life and the murder of his associate Trevor Williams."
Lee was placed unofficially under "house arrest" shortly after the State of Emergency began.
The Legal Notice said that "it is necessary to provide for his preventive detention with a view to preventing him acting in a manner prejudicial to public safety or public order or the defence of Trinidad and Tobago."
