The Couva Carnival Committee promises 6 days of celebrations for the 2025 season.
This announcement was made by Ramchand Rajbal Maraj, the Chairman of the CCC, at the official launch of celebrations on Saturday at the Bear Feelings Bar, Exchange Road, Couva.
Rajbal Maraj said the theme for this year’s celebrations is Carnival is alive in 2025.
He said the CCC is working with a budget of $489,000. However, he said the National Carnival Commission is yet to release any monies to the committee.
Rajbal Maraj said the CCC was also appealing to the business community, especially industries on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate to sponsor some events.
He said the CCC is also hoping to increase all first-place prizes by $2000.
Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh commended the CCC for their efforts over the years in keeping the Couva Carnival as one of the brightest regional celebrations.
The launch showcased several carnival bands and performances by various calypsonians including Terri Lyons.
