The Police Service has confirmed that it has detained 100 people who were on board a vessel in Chaguaramas, yesterday. The group was processed and subsequently released pending further enquiries.
An official statement on the case reports that on Sunday 26th December 2021, between 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm, officers received reports related to activity on a boat in the vicinity of The Anchorage. A check of the vessel, Ocean Pelican, revealed there were 100 people on board including the boat’s owner.
The TTPS says they all were detained, processed, and released.
The Police Service says consultations were held with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). In addition, Sgt (Ag.) Adams is continuing investigations to determine if there were any breaches of the Public Health Regulations.
The TTPS says in the event that there were breaches of the Regulations, action will be taken against those persons, beginning with summonses.
