A Couva man was killed after he and another man were ambushed while at a makeshift camp used to cure marijuana.
The deceased has been identified as Stephan Ramlal.
Police reported that around 6:15 am today, officers responded to a report of a shooting and went to School Street, Esperanza Village, California.
There they found Stephan’s body.
According to reports, a 22-year-old man reported that around 10:32 pm the night before, he and Ramlal were at the makeshift camp when they heard gunshots.
Stephan Ramplal reportedly was shot four times and collapsed, while the 22-year-old was shot in the leg.
Both men then hid in some bushes.
The survivor said he later found Ramlal dead.
He said he took Stephan’s mobile phone and called police.
The injured man was taken to the Couva District Health Facility for treatment.
Investigations continue.
