He was the son of the late Zain­ool and Sidikha Ramjohn, broth­er of Fer­oza,Kaz­im and Farouk. Un­cle of Fa­reed and Shal­iza. Nephew of Kadir Ab­dool. Cousin of the Ab­dools of Av­o­cat, the Hamids fam­i­ly of Mas­sa­hood Junc­tion, the Jo­hanof Point Fortín, Ho­seins of Freeport, Na­zo­ol Ahamad of Princes Town. Friend of Tony Ram­lack­an­sign and at­tor­ney Stephen Boodram.

1949 - 2024 Pooran Ram­lakhan, for­mer­ly of Plai­sance Vge, PaP, re­cent­ly passed away in Toron­to. He was the lov­ing hus­band of Chan­dra ‘San­dra’ nee Lakhan, and beloved fa­ther of Sari­ta and Vin­od. Pooran was 11th of 15 Chil­dren of Late Ram­lakhan and Phoolasarie Suck­rit (nee De­bideen) of Plai­sance Vil­lage, Pointe-a-Pierre. He was the cher­ished broth­er of Har­ry ‘Titi’ (dec), Gan­pat ‘Morne’ (dec), Ti­ta Gan­gadai, Kr­ish­na, Elaine Ram­dai, Lin­da Dhanasarie (dec), Kam­la, Jai­har­ry, Sat­nar­ine, Jaisiree ‘Tull’ (dec), Ra­jen­dra, Tens­ing, Mar­i­lyn Ra­jku­marie and Suzie Dhan­mati. He was Broth­er-in-law of Kelvin, Suresh and Salil, and Un­cle to many. Pooran was rel­a­tive of the De­bideens of Cou­va, Lakhans of San Juan, Ro­hit Singh Fam­i­ly of Palmiste, Ra­mad­hars of PaP, Sookrits of Toron­to, Ganesh’s of Phoenix Park, Ramkhelawan’s and many oth­er fam­i­lies. He was friend of many in Trinidad and Toron­to, and mem­ber of the Blue Star Ashram. Pooran at­tend­ed PaP Govt Pri­ma­ry School and St Bene­dict’s Col­lege. He was a Civ­il Ser­vant and a Me­te­o­rol­o­gist of Met Of­fice be­fore mi­grat­ing to Cana­da. Pooran was ad­mired for his abil­i­ty to main­tain re­la­tion­ships with rel­a­tives, friends, vil­lagers and cowork­ers alike. He at­tract­ed peo­ple with his in­fec­tious smile and out­go­ing per­son­al­i­ty. He had a knack for mak­ing con­nec­tions, no mat­ter the dif­fer­ences of coun­try or cul­ture. Pooran loved sports, es­pe­cial­ly Crick­et. His pas­sion for Ge­og­ra­phy man­i­fest­ed it­self lat­er in life through many treks across the globe, in­clud­ing Africa, In­dia, Aus­tralia, Near and Far East coun­tries. He shared his love and knowl­edge of star-gaz­ing, air­planes, and all things wildlife. Pooran’s un­wa­ver­ing be­lief in Kar­ma saw him through his can­cer treat­ments in good spir­its, and heal­ways flashed his sig­na­ture 2 thumbs up ‘feel­ing great’, un­til his peace­ful pass­ing. We thank all who vis­it­ed him from Trinidad, Cana­da and USA, and chant­ed Mantras and sang Bha­jans.
