The O2N Foun­da­tion host­ed a trans­for­ma­tive dis­cus­sion on breast can­cer aware­ness at the Hy­att Re­gency last Sun­day as part of their O2N Life Styled tele­vi­sion mag­a­zine pro­gramme.

The event high­light­ed the com­plex­i­ties of breast can­cer while fos­ter­ing em­pow­er­ment and un­der­stand­ing through shared sto­ries and ex­pert in­sights.

Chaired by Nicole Dy­er-Grif­fith, a third-stage breast can­cer war­rior, the dis­cus­sion ex­plored the dis­ease’s ecosys­tem, de­bunk­ing myths and ad­dress­ing fears.

Dy­er-Grif­fith’s re­silience and open­ness in­spired at­ten­dees, fram­ing breast can­cer man­age­ment as a jour­ney of pos­i­tiv­i­ty and dis­ci­pline.

The fea­tured ex­pert, Dr Ly­ronne Ol­livi­er, a high­ly re­gard­ed breast sur­gi­cal on­col­o­gist, cap­ti­vat­ed the au­di­ence with his com­pas­sion­ate and in­sight­ful re­spons­es.

He cov­ered risk fac­tors, ear­ly de­tec­tion, treat­ment op­tions, and male breast can­cer, sim­pli­fy­ing com­plex con­cepts. His fo­cus on in­di­vid­u­alised care and ad­vance­ments in on­coplas­tic surgery of­fered hope for breast preser­va­tion and re­con­struc­tion.

The in­ter­ac­tive ses­sion, mod­er­at­ed by Dy­er-Grif­fith and cre­ative di­rec­tor Richard Young, pro­vid­ed a safe space for par­tic­i­pants to voice pre­vi­ous­ly un­spo­ken ques­tions.

One par­tic­i­pant re­marked, “This was a nec­es­sary in­ter­ven­tion that should be con­tin­ued. I feel more in­formed and em­pow­ered.”
