​Lo­cal oche ac­tion heats up this Sun­day as the Trinidad and To­ba­go Darts As­so­ci­a­tion launch­es its an­tic­i­pat­ed Zon­al League tour­na­ment. Re­turn­ing to do­mes­tic com­pe­ti­tion fol­low­ing their his­toric per­for­mance at the World Cup of Darts in Frank­furt, Ger­many, back in June, na­tion­al he­roes James Walk­lin and Joshua Bal­four are set to line up for op­pos­ing squads.

​Walk­lin and Bal­four etched their names in­to the his­to­ry books on the in­ter­na­tion­al stage by se­cur­ing a thrilling 4-3 vic­to­ry over 14th-ranked Latvia, be­com­ing the first team from the Eng­lish-speak­ing Caribbean to win a match at the World Cup. Hav­ing since re­turned to lo­cal com­pe­ti­tion, the duo now turn their fo­cus to bol­ster­ing their re­spec­tive zon­al sides across three in­tense Sun­days of com­pe­ti­tion: Sep­tem­ber 27, Oc­to­ber 11, and Oc­to­ber 25.

​The tour­na­ment struc­ture puts three dis­tinct zones head-to-head in a bat­tle for supreme re­gion­al brag­ging rights, with all venues throw­ing off ac­tion si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly at 10 am.

​In the East Zone, staged at Hutt Shutts on LP #2 Bal­go­b­in Street off Crown Street in Tacarigua, World Cup star Walk­lin joins squad cap­tain Kevin Ja­cob and man­ag­er Pe­te Brooks.

​The North-West Zone will host its leg at the Kos­mos Club, lo­cat­ed at the cor­ner of New and Ed­ward Streets. Led by cap­tain and man­ag­er Sher­az Ra­sool along­side World Cup stand­out Bal­four, the team aims to es­tab­lish dom­i­nance on home boards.

​Mean­while, South-Cen­tral Zone con­tenders will bat­tle at Em­pire Bil­liards & Bar on Gulf View Link Road. Cap­tained by Za­ck Seales and man­aged by Jameer Ali-Shah, the South-Cen­tral line­up en­ters with deep ros­ter strength.

​With all three zones hav­ing con­clud­ed their tri­al ses­sions, com­plete ros­ters are locked in across the men’s and women’s di­vi­sions. Fans can ex­pect tight fin­ish­es and high check­outs as T&T’s pre­mier play­ers take to the board.
