The University of T&T’s (UTT) Patriots men’s football team captured the Tertiary Sport Association of T&T’s (TSATT) League and Knockout titles recently.
The team’s success in the TSATT League later earned them the right to represent the country at the FISU America Football World Cup Qualifiers in Peru in July 2026.
They will join the University’s Patriots Women’s Football team, and beach volleyball and track and field student-athletes who have also qualified for the highly anticipated sporting event.
The Patriots Men’s Football team’s unbeaten performance in a previous Knock Out tournament made them favourites for the final match against the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) Hummers. The UTT team is managed and coached by Clayton Morris, the former national defender and captain of the infamous ‘Strike Squad’, who led them to a 6-2 triumph over the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC), to lift the winner’s trophy.
It is the second time the UTT’s Men’s football team qualified for the FISU America Football World Cup, having participated in Mexico 2022.
Their female counterparts would have qualified two consecutive times in 2022 and 2024, before meeting the requirements to represent T&T at next year’s tournament.
