The Re­pub­lic Bank CPL's most dec­o­rat­ed play­er, Dwayne Bra­vo, has re­ceived a unique ho­n­our of hav­ing his jer­sey num­ber of­fi­cial­ly re­tired by the Trin­ba­go Knight Rid­ers (TKR) fran­chise.

Bra­vo’s icon­ic No 47 jer­sey will no longer be avail­able for se­lec­tion by play­ers join­ing TKR hence­forth.

Mak­ing the an­nounce­ment on Sat­ur­day, Knight Rid­ers Group chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer (CEO) Venky Mysore said, “Dwayne Bra­vo’s con­tri­bu­tion to the Knight Rid­ers and to the CPL is im­pos­si­ble to mea­sure. Re­tir­ing No 47 is our way of en­sur­ing that his lega­cy will for­ev­er be a part of this fran­chise. There could be no more fit­ting play­er to be­come the first in CPL his­to­ry to re­ceive this ho­n­our.”

Bra­vo, the cur­rent TKR head coach, was pre­sent­ed with a framed TKR jer­sey in a brief cer­e­mo­ny be­fore last night's clash with the Ja­maica Kings­men at the Queen's Park Oval in Port-of-Spain by Mysore, while Bra­vo's younger broth­er Dar­ren and oth­ers were in at­ten­dance.

The jer­sey re­tire­ment comes as recog­ni­tion of the self-dubbed 'Sir Cham­pi­on's' ex­tra­or­di­nary con­tri­bu­tion to the team, CPL, and crick­et in Trinidad & To­ba­go.

The recog­ni­tion al­so makes Bra­vo the first play­er in CPL his­to­ry to have his jer­sey num­ber re­tired, a fit­ting ho­n­our for a play­er whose name has be­come syn­ony­mous with the tour­na­ment and with the Trin­ba­go Knight Rid­ers.

Bra­vo re­tired from play­ing crick­et in 2024 as the most dec­o­rat­ed play­er in CPL his­to­ry and as a cen­tral fig­ure in TKR’s cham­pi­onship-win­ning cam­paigns in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2020, play­ing a defin­ing role in es­tab­lish­ing the fran­chise as CPL’s most suc­cess­ful team.

The all-rounder fea­tured in 107 CPL match­es, claimed 129 wick­ets as the tour­na­ment's one-time lead­ing wick­et-tak­er and, in ad­di­tion to his four CPL ti­tles won with TKR, al­so added an­oth­er as a mem­ber of the St Kitts and Nevis Pa­tri­ots in 2021. Fur­ther to those tri­umphs, Bra­vo col­lect­ed a sixth cham­pi­onship as TKR head coach in 2025.

Since re­tir­ing, he sub­se­quent­ly took on the role of TKR head coach, con­tin­u­ing his as­so­ci­a­tion with the fran­chise from the dugout.

The No 47 jer­sey will now stand as a per­ma­nent sym­bol of Bra­vo’s re­mark­able jour­ney with the Knight Rid­ers, from cham­pi­on play­er to cham­pi­on coach, and ul­ti­mate­ly, an en­dur­ing part of the fran­chise’s his­to­ry.
