MANCHESTER, England – Jamaican international Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw scored twice as Manchester City thrashed Liverpool 4-0 in the Women’s Super League here at the Joie Stadium on Sunday.
Shaw struck twice in the space of 13 minutes in the first half to give City a 2-0 lead, before Jill Roord and Gracie Prior added the finishing touches in the second half to help them move within two points of third placed Arsenal.
In her first start in over two months, Shaw opened the scoring in the 30th minute after turning sharply in half a yard of space in the Liverpool area after collecting Mary Fowler’s pass and finished across Liverpool keeper Teagan Micah into the far corner.
She then netted her 11th league goal of the campaign two minutes before half-time, having to control another Fowler pass around waist height, yet still managing to steer a half-volley past Micah.
Roord scored the third, slashing a strike into the bottom corner in the 60th minute before 20-year-old Prior, making her first WSL start, added a fourth in the 77th minute when her cross from the right flew over Micah and dropped into the corner.
