Akil La Roach starred for Caledonia Clippers on Tuesday night (July 7), scoring 21 points to lead his team to a resounding 83-54 victory over Trailblazers in the Men’s Second Division of the Lincoln “Cripple” Griffith North Zone Basketball League at the Woodbrook Youth Facility in Port-of-Spain.
The match started close, with Clippers leading just 20-19 at the end of the first quarter. But La Roach and his team took control in the second period, outscoring Trailblazers 24-11 to hold a 14-point advantage at halftime. Akil Paynter added 13 points and Brayan Sanchez scored 11 to help extend the lead.
Che Miller tried to keep the Trailblazers in the game with 14 points, but the Clippers proved too strong and won every single quarter. The scoreline read 62-48 by the end of the third stanza before the Clippers ultimately claimed the 29-point win.
In the other Men’s Second Division match, Maloney Pacers dominated Royalty Basketball Academy with a 90-63 win. Negaste Moore led Pacers with 17 points, while Jefree Saunders added 16. The Maloney-based unit jumped to an early 27-13 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Kimani John scored 18 points for Royalty, but it was not enough to stop Maloney’s balanced offence.
