NEW CHANDIGARH, India – Indian pacer Anshul Kamboj is in line to make his One Day International (ODI) debut having been selected to replace the injured Prasidh Krishna for the third and final ODI against the West Indies in India on Saturday.
Krishna has been ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury in the second ODI on Wednesday, which India won by eight wickets at Barsapara Cricket Stadium to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
He bowled just five overs in that contest, conceding 45 runs while picking up the solitary wicket of Keacy Carty before leaving the field in the 31st over of the innings.
According to a report from ESPN Cricinfo, Krishna has already returned to Bengaluru, his hometown, and could be a doubt for the opening round of the Ranji Trophy, which begins on October 11.
As a result, the 25-year-old Kamboj has been withdrawn from the ongoing India ‘A’ vs Australia ‘A’ four-day match in Puducherry to travel to New Chandigarh.
Kamboj picked up three wickets in the first four-dayer, and had picked up three wickets in Australia A’s first innings in the second game.
He has an impressive average of 22.41 from 35 List A matches, where he has picked up 56 wickets.
Kamboj made his Test debut – his only appearance for India – on the tour of England last year.
