Marcus James of Defence Force and the pair of Magnolias players, Natania Rowe and Renallia Constantine, all scored hat-tricks as their respective clubs flicked off the defence of their titles in the T&T Hockey Board Indoor Championships with commanding wins at the Woodbrook Youth Facility, Port-of-Spain on Saturday (September 14).
In the men's Open Division, James scored in the 20th, 22nd, and 23rd minutes while Dylan Francis added a double in the first and 25th minutes to lead Defence Force to an 8-1 spanking of Fatima.
The trio of Shaquille Daniel (sixth), Tarell Singh (17th), and Mickel Pierre (34th) added a goal each for the Army/Coast Guard combination hockeymen, while Fatima got its lone reply from Scott Pichery in the tenth minute.
Title challengers, Queen's Park Cricket Club (QPCC) and Police, also won their men's encounters.
The Parkites, as QPCC are called, thrashed Malvern 10-1 led by hat-tricks from veteran Darren Cowie (fifth, 22nd, 24th) and team captain Jordan Vieira (seventh, 12th, 34th).
Adam Perriera added two goals for the Parkites in the ninth and 37th, with Kadeem Fortune (20th) and Jeremy Nieves (28th) also getting their names on the scoresheet, while Malvern got its consolation item through Lyndell Byer in the 39th.

Pascal got his goals as early as the third, 14th, and 30th as Shape held off Fatima 3-2, with Matthew Newallo (29th) and Zack Gowsack (32nd) getting on the board for Fatima, who fell just short of sharing the spoils.

Matches resume on September 24 with the Masters Indoor Over-40 and O-50 Divisions.
