Mar­cus James of De­fence Force and the pair of Mag­no­lias play­ers, Nata­nia Rowe and Re­nal­lia Con­stan­tine, all scored hat-tricks as their re­spec­tive clubs flicked off the de­fence of their ti­tles in the T&T Hock­ey Board In­door Cham­pi­onships with com­mand­ing wins at the Wood­brook Youth Fa­cil­i­ty, Port-of-Spain on Sat­ur­day (Sep­tem­ber 14).

​In the men's Open Di­vi­sion, James scored in the 20th, 22nd, and 23rd min­utes while Dy­lan Fran­cis added a dou­ble in the first and 25th min­utes to lead De­fence Force to an 8-1 spank­ing of Fa­ti­ma.

​The trio of Shaquille Daniel (sixth), Tarell Singh (17th), and Mick­el Pierre (34th) added a goal each for the Army/Coast Guard com­bi­na­tion hock­ey­men, while Fa­ti­ma got its lone re­ply from Scott Pich­ery in the tenth minute.

​Ti­tle chal­lengers, Queen's Park Crick­et Club (QPCC) and Po­lice, al­so won their men's en­coun­ters.

​The Parkites, as QPCC are called, thrashed Malvern 10-1 led by hat-tricks from vet­er­an Dar­ren Cowie (fifth, 22nd, 24th) and team cap­tain Jor­dan Vieira (sev­enth, 12th, 34th).

​Adam Per­ri­era added two goals for the Parkites in the ninth and 37th, with Kadeem For­tune (20th) and Je­re­my Nieves (28th) al­so get­ting their names on the score­sheet, while Malvern got its con­so­la­tion item through Lyn­dell By­er in the 39th.

​Po­lice had a much tougher out­ing on their hands and came away with a hard-fought 5-3 tri­umph over Paragon led by a goal each from Dwain Quan Chan (sixth), Akim Tou­s­saint (ninth), Jor­dan Reynos (36th), Cam­ron Adam­son (37th), and Che Mod­este (37th).

For Paragon, Joel Daniel scored in the 18th and 40th, while Kiel Mur­ray got the oth­er in the 21st minute, which tied up the score at 2-2 be­fore the Law­men's late push snatched all three points.

​Rowe, Con­stan­tine shine for Mag­no­lias

​In the women's Open, Rowe got her hat-trick in the fourth, 28th and 29th while Con­stan­tine com­plet­ed her feat in the eighth, 17th and 37th as Mag­no­lias rout­ed Paragon II, 11-3.

​Bri­an­na Govia (14th pen, 22nd) and Kait­lyn Olton (21st, 37th) chipped in with two goals each for Mag­no­lias in the lop­sided win, while Leah Abra­ham was al­so on tar­get in the 34th for the win­ners. Paragon II got a hat-trick in the loss from for­mer na­tion­al for­ward Kristin Thomp­son in the ninth, 18th and 31st.

In the oth­er match played, Po­lice de­feat­ed Check­ers 3-0 led by a dou­ble from Brit­tney Hingh in the fifth and 27th, and an­oth­er by Krys­tal Rod­ney in the 25th.

​Pas­cal, White­man net Trin­i­ty men hat-trick

​Nick Pas­cal of Shape and Nicholas White­man of Notre Dame al­so scored hat-tricks to fire their teams to nar­row wins in the Trin­i­ty men's com­pe­ti­tion.

​Pas­cal got his goals as ear­ly as the third, 14th, and 30th as Shape held off Fa­ti­ma 3-2, with Matthew Newal­lo (29th) and Za­ck Gow­sack (32nd) get­ting on the board for Fa­ti­ma, who fell just short of shar­ing the spoils.

​White­man found the tar­get in the tenth, 15th and 17th, af­ter Richie Alexan­der had fired in a first-minute item in their 4-3 win over Po­lice, who got a dou­ble from vet­er­an Roger Daniel in the 11th and 14th, and one from Leu­mas Nep­tune in the 27th, in their hum­bling. Match­es re­sume on Sep­tem­ber 24 with the Mas­ters In­door Over-40 and O-50 Di­vi­sions.

​Lee Quay gets mixed vets beaver-trick

​The stand­out scor­er was Shawn Lee Quay as he net­ted a beaver-trick in the day's open­ing fix­ture for QPCC, 7-1 come-from-be­hind win­ners over Paragon in the mixed vet­er­ans di­vi­sion.

​Lee Quay found the tar­get in the 15th, 18th, 27th and 28th, while Krizia Layne reg­is­tered a dou­ble in the 21st and 30th, and Mahin­der Malli scored the oth­er in the 22nd, while Paragon got its con­so­la­tion item from Sher­bert McK­ie in the 14th minute.
