The Dream 11 T10 Blast saw the first Super Over and at the end of it, 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Ramdoo upstaged Nicholas Sookdeosingh to lead the Blue Devils to a five-run victory over the Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando yesterday. This, after 20 overs could not separate the teams.
Ramdoo scored an unbeaten 43 in just 16 balls, and the Cavaliers reached 119 for 4 in 10 overs, identical to the Blue Devils’ total of 119 for 4 in 10 overs.
But it was not easy sailing for the Cavaliers, as they were reduced to 36 for 2 in two overs and five balls after the dismissals of Silus Cooper (7) and Isaiah “Big Raj” Rajah (5).
Before Ramdoo’s blitz, Saiba Batoosingh sparked the recovery with 42 (23 balls, four fours and three sixes) before Ramdoo came in at number five after the fall of Jesse Bootan (11) at 53 for three.
Batoosingh and Bootan shared in a 48-run partnership, in just three overs and two balls before Ramdoo lost Batoosingh’s company.
Ramdoo then continued to take the Cavaliers to 119, level with the Blue Devils on the last ball.
Earlier, former Clarke Road attacking opener Nicholas Sookdeosingh blasted 59 from just 29 balls and shared in an opening stand of 93 with Kamil Pooran (34) as the Blue Devils raced to 93 for 1 in seven overs and four balls.
But good bowling from Zachary Siewah and Imran Khan restricted the Blue Devils to 26 runs in the last 14 balls of the innings while affecting three further wickets.
In the deciding Super Over, Cavaliers scored 20 without loss while the Blue Devils responded with 15 without loss for a Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers win.
The Cavaliers registered their first win after their opening five-wicket loss to Steelpan Players.
The Blue Devils suffered their second loss after splitting matches against Trillions (win) and Soca Kings (loss).
