​Ear­ly fire­works lit up the open­ing night of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Hock­ey Board (TTHB) Na­tion­al In­door Tour­na­ment, with 28 goals scored across the first four match­es.

​Paragon women were par­tic­u­lar­ly se­vere on their sec­ond team, pow­ered by hat-tricks from Zuriel An­toine and Fe­li­cia King-Ash­by in a 10-0 de­mo­li­tion of Paragon II. Gabrielle Thomp­son al­so net­ted a dou­ble as Paragon women sound­ed a clear warn­ing to their op­po­nents in the Open Women’s Di­vi­sion at the Wood­brook Youth Fa­cil­i­ty in Port-of-Spain on Fri­day night.

​King-Ash­by opened the scor­ing from a penal­ty cor­ner just five min­utes in­to the game. An­toine’s pres­ence was quick­ly felt as she stole the spot­light by scor­ing the next three goals–in the 11th, 15th, and 16th min­utes–to push her team to a 4-0 ad­van­tage.

​King-Ash­by kept the score­board tick­ing with her team’s fifth goal in the 19th minute. Mikeisha De Sil­va com­pound­ed Paragon II’s pain by net­ting the sixth goal in the 20th minute. Thomp­son then fired in two goals in the space of three min­utes to push the lead to 8-0: first con­vert­ing a penal­ty cor­ner in the 31st minute, then fir­ing pow­er­ful­ly past the Paragon II cus­to­di­an from open play two min­utes lat­er.

​Alan­na Lewis added her lone item in the 34th minute be­fore King-Ash­by put the ex­cla­ma­tion mark on the match, com­plet­ing her tre­ble in the 36th minute. Coach Kristin Thomp­son watched on with lit­tle to say as what was meant to be a com­pet­i­tive en­counter turned in­to a train­ing ex­er­cise.

​Mean­while, Po­lice pro­vid­ed the sec­ond-high­est tal­ly of the night. Shawn Ovid and Nicholas Grant, scor­ing braces in the Po­lice 6-2 tri­umph over Prosport at the same venue in the Men’s Open Di­vi­sion.

​The Po­lice­men, sea­soned cam­paign­ers in the sport, wast­ed lit­tle time by open­ing the scor­ing in the fourth minute through a penal­ty cor­ner from Leu­mas Nep­tune. Ovid and Grant then took cen­ter stage. Ovid struck in the 12th and 33rd min­utes, while Grant added goals in the 26th and 40th min­utes to ex­tend the lead to 5-0.

​Che Mod­este scored the re­main­ing goal for the Law­men as they too sig­nalled their in­ten­tions for the tour­na­ment. Luke Bar­clay and Kain Mar­chock pro­vid­ed the goals for Prosport.

​In the night's oth­er Open Men's fix­ture, De­fence Force blanked Paragon 3-0, while Carib clob­bered Shape 5-2 in Trin­i­ty Men’s Di­vi­sion ac­tion.
