Floodwaters are still rising on the lower end of the South Oropouche Drainage Basin, as Woodland residents prepare for evacuation in the event of more rainfall.
At Pluck Road, San Francique, two feet of water were recorded on the flood gauge.
Resident Kumar Sookdeo said his Christmas decorations and fridge floated away.
President of the Woodland Flood Action Group, Kevin Harduar, says that while the floodgates were operational and tides were low, they were still taking precautions.
"Right now, with the rains we had yesterday, all water rubbed off as far as Penal and Barrackpore, and we have a few breaches. We have been up since 1 am, trying to secure our property."
Siparia Mayor Doodnath Mayrhoo told CNC3 News that just over 50 households faced flood damage.
He says assessments will be done when the flood subsides.
