Police are investigating two separate shootings which led to the wounding of two men between Sunday night and early yesterday morning.
In the first incident, a 37-year-old mechanic was opening the gate to his Madras Road, St Helena home around 10.05 pm when he was confronted by a gunman who shot him several times.
A relative, who saw the incident via CCTV camera system, called the police, who visited the scene and took the wounded man to hospital.
Investigators said the man was shot in his head and right hand and was listed as being in stable condition.
Sources said the attacker sat in a white Toyota Aqua and waited for the victim.
Officers of the Cunupia CID are continuing inquiries.
Hours later, at around 12 am yesterday, a 24-year-old man was shot as he confronted a group of men who threw bottles at his vehicle.
Police said the man was about to leave Manuel Congo, Arima, when a group of men began throwing glass bottles at his Nissan Almera car.
The victim approached the men to confront them, when he reported that one of the suspects pulled out a rifle and shot him once in his right leg and back.
The wounded man got in the car and drove to hospital, where he was treated.
Officers of the Arima CID were called in and are continuing inquiries.
