Law enforcement officials have successfully charged three men in connection with separate murder cases across Trinidad.
In a media release, the TTPS said in Port of Spain, 35-year-old Juman Ali Sahadath appeared before a Master of the High Court for the murder of nine-year-old Aneilia Butler. The incident, which occurred on February 23rd, 2022, saw Butler trapped in a fire at her Beetham Gardens home.
The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Services responded, but she was found deceased in her room. Following extensive investigations, Sahadath was arrested on March 28th, 2025, and charged on March 5th, 2025, after advice from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC.
Meanwhile, in Diego Martin, 20-year-old Akeem Simon was charged for the February 15th, 2025, murder of David Stanley Gregoir. Gregoir, 29, was discovered along Ariapita Avenue with multiple wounds and later succumbed to his injuries at the Port of Spain General Hospital. Simon was apprehended by Homicide Bureau officers on March 3rd, 2025, and formally charged on March 10th, 2025.
Additionally, in Chase Village, 61-year-old Nicholas Mahabir was charged with the Carnival Tuesday murder of Irving Joaquin Mayora Gonzalez in St. James. Gonzalez was among five individuals who sustained gunshot wounds following an attack near the St. James Market on March 4th, 2025. Mahabir faces multiple charges, including Shooting with Intent, Possession of Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition. He was arrested shortly after the incident by the Western Division Task Force and charged on March 10th, 2025.
All three cases were investigated under the supervision of ASP (Ag.) Ramjag, W/Insp. Grant, Insp. (Ag.) Ramsumair, and PC Subiah of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One. Officers from various law enforcement units contributed to the arrests and subsequent charges.
