The Couva Carnival Committee is promising six days of celebrations for the 2025 season.
This announcement was made by committee chairman Ramchand Rajbal-Maraj during the official launch of celebrations at the Bear Feelings Bar, Couva, on Saturday.
Rajbal-Maraj said the theme for this year’s celebrations is Carnival is Alive in 2025. He said they are working with a budget of $489,000 but the National Carnival Commission (NCC) is yet to release any monies to the committee.
Hd also appealing to the business community, especially industries on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, to sponsor some events. He said they are also hoping to increase all first-place prizes by $2,000.
Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh commended the committee for their efforts over the years in keeping Couva Carnival as one of the brightest regional celebrations.
The launch showcased several carnival bands and performances by various calypsonians, including former calypso and soca artiste Terri Lyons.
Lyons, who won the TUCO Calypso Monarch title in 2020, was also honoured for her contribution to the performing arts by the committee.

March 3: J'ouvert and Monday Night Mas
March 4: Parade of the Bands
