The Cou­va Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee is promis­ing six days of cel­e­bra­tions for the 2025 sea­son.

This an­nounce­ment was made by com­mit­tee chair­man Ram­c­hand Ra­jbal-Maraj dur­ing the of­fi­cial launch of cel­e­bra­tions at the Bear Feel­ings Bar, Cou­va, on Sat­ur­day.

Ra­jbal-Maraj said the theme for this year’s cel­e­bra­tions is Car­ni­val is Alive in 2025. He said they are work­ing with a bud­get of $489,000 but the Na­tion­al Car­ni­val Com­mis­sion (NCC) is yet to re­lease any monies to the com­mit­tee.

Hd al­so ap­peal­ing to the busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty, es­pe­cial­ly in­dus­tries on the Point Lisas In­dus­tri­al Es­tate, to spon­sor some events. He said they are al­so hop­ing to in­crease all first-place prizes by $2,000.

Cou­va South MP Rudranath In­dars­ingh com­mend­ed the com­mit­tee for their ef­forts over the years in keep­ing Cou­va Car­ni­val as one of the bright­est re­gion­al cel­e­bra­tions.

The launch show­cased sev­er­al car­ni­val bands and per­for­mances by var­i­ous ca­lyp­so­ni­ans, in­clud­ing for­mer ca­lyp­so and so­ca artiste Ter­ri Lyons.

Lyons, who won the TU­CO Ca­lyp­so Monarch ti­tle in 2020, was al­so ho­n­oured for her con­tri­bu­tion to the per­form­ing arts by the com­mit­tee.

March 1: Miss Cen­tral Queen Show

March 2: Kid­dies Pa­rade of the Band

March 3: J'ou­vert and Mon­day Night Mas
