There are no current active searches for the body of two-year-old Angelo Tobias-Plaza.
The toddler was reported missing from his Cambridge Trace, Goodwood, home on May 11.
Despite extensive searches comprising various state agencies, the boy’s body has not been recovered.
Angelo’s stepfather, Shannon Miller, 24, has been charged for his murder.
His mother, Kalifah Tobias, 22, was previously detained along with her partner, but has been released.
Assistant Superintendent Mahalia Bacchus confirmed no searches took place yesterday, but said police will not stop in their efforts to find Angelo’s body.
Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) director Allan Stewart told Guardian Media police have not requested their services for the past week.
TEMA had been on the ground from day one of the multi-agency response, deploying personnel, drones and other assets.
Stewart said, “We are not actively involved in the search at this stage. Our involvement only comes at the request of law enforcement. For the past week, we have not been asked to respond based on where the investigation is at this stage.”
Both Hunters Search and Rescue Teams have also ended their search efforts and returned to Trinidad.
Goodwood villager Wendy Des Vignes told Guardian Media she has not seen police in the area for the past week, adding she remains troubled by the lack of closure.
“I feeling real frustrated, like it is my child and I can’t find my child,” she said.
“Time and time again I asking myself, ‘Where could this baby be?’ It tormenting meh spirit. I cannot settle down. I am uneasy.”
Goodwood villagers held a peace walk and interfaith service on Sunday for Angelo.
