The man who was struck and killed during a road traffic accident along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway (CRH) on Wednesday morning, remained unidentified up to yesterday.
Police said a 23-year-old man of Transfer Village, Debe, was driving his black Toyota Altis east along the highway in the vicinity of the Curepe Flyover around 6.46 am when he struck the victim who was attempting to cross from north to south.
The victim, who is of African descent, was clad in a blue jersey and red short pants.
The driver alerted the police and the Emergency Health Services who took the victim to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, where he was pronounced dead at 7.39 am.
The driver’s vehicle was later wrecked to the St Joseph Police Station for processing and inspection. Checks were made by the CCTV Retrieval Unit for footage from security cameras in the area but officials were later informed that the cameras at that location are currently offline.
Sgt Bhim of the St Joseph Police Station is continuing enquiries.
