Po­lice are try­ing to iden­ti­fy a man, be­lieved to be a Venezue­lan na­tion­al, af­ter he was chopped and stabbed to death dur­ing an al­ter­ca­tion in Diego Mar­tin yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said of­fi­cers of the West End Po­lice Sta­tion re­ceived a re­port of a body in an apart­ment at Green Hill Vil­lage around 6.30 am and went to the scene.

On ar­rival, po­lice were told that four Venezue­lan men were liv­ing in the two-storey build­ing. Po­lice were told neigh­bours heard an ar­gu­ment ear­ly yes­ter­day. Dur­ing the ar­gu­ment, one of the men was at­tacked and sus­tained chop and stab wounds.

The at­tack­er re­port­ed­ly fled the scene and re­mained on the run up to late yes­ter­day.

A dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer was al­so called in and de­clared the man dead.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion I Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
