The La Brea In­dus­tri­al De­vel­op­ment Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (LABID­CO) has do­nat­ed a 3kW (kilo­watt) so­lar pho­to­volta­ic (PV) sys­tem to La Brea res­i­dent, Cindy Williams. LABID­CO says the so­lar sys­tem is ca­pa­ble of pow­er­ing LED lights, wash­ing ma­chine, 32-inch TV, fan, and elec­tron­ic de­vices such as mo­bile phones, tablets, and lap­tops. The La Brea In­dus­tri­al De­vel­op­ment Com­pa­ny Lim­it­ed (LABID­CO) has do­nat­ed a 3kW (kilo­watt) so­lar pho­to­volta­ic (PV) sys­tem to La Brea res­i­dent, Cindy Williams - pro­vid­ing her with a re­li­able sup­ply of elec­tric­i­ty for the first time in 15 years.

Pri­or to the re­stric­tions brought on by the Pub­lic Health Reg­u­la­tions, Ms. Williams, a sin­gle moth­er of nine, used her home to op­er­ate a reg­is­tered pre-school for chil­dren with­in her com­mu­ni­ty. LABID­CO, whose op­er­a­tions is in La Brea, se­lect­ed Ms. Williams for this ini­tia­tive af­ter con­fir­ma­tion that she was in le­gal pos­ses­sion of the land she cur­rent­ly oc­cu­pies.

LABID­CO’s Chair­man, Con­rad Enill, made a cour­tesy vis­it to Ms. Williams’ home last Sun­day (No­vem­ber 28th) to ob­serve the op­er­a­tion of the so­lar PV sys­tem. Dur­ing the vis­it, Mr. Enill, who is al­so Chair­man of LABID­CO’s par­ent com­pa­ny, The Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny of Trinidad and To­ba­go Lim­it­ed (NGC), spoke with Ms. Williams and in­di­cat­ed that the com­pa­nies have reengi­neered their CSR ini­tia­tives to fo­cus on projects and ini­tia­tives that are aligned with the gov­ern­ment’s goal of pro­mot­ing a low car­bon econ­o­my. He reaf­firmed LABID­CO’s sup­port to the La Brea com­mu­ni­ty and com­mit­ted that there will be oth­er sim­i­lar ini­tia­tives in the fu­ture.

The so­lar sys­tem, which was re­cent­ly in­stalled by RESS­COTT’s So­lar En­er­gy Char­i­ta­ble Foun­da­tion, is ca­pa­ble of pow­er­ing LED lights, wash­ing ma­chine, 32-inch TV, fan, and elec­tron­ic de­vices such as mo­bile phones, tablets, and lap­tops.

Dur­ing the in­stal­la­tion, La Brea res­i­dents who were re­cent­ly trained in the in­stal­la­tion of so­lar PV sys­tems by LABID­CO’s sis­ter com­pa­ny, Na­tion­al En­er­gy Cor­po­ra­tion of Trinidad and To­ba­go Lim­it­ed (Na­tion­al En­er­gy), were pro­vid­ed the op­por­tu­ni­ty for hands-on ex­pe­ri­ence in in­stalling the 3kW sys­tem on Ms. Williams home. Na­tion­al En­er­gy al­so do­nat­ed five lap­tops to Ms. Williams to as­sist her chil­dren with their vir­tu­al school­ing.
