During the current cut and thrust of political debates during the ongoing General Election battle, politicians have been delivering some gems and jabs on the hustings. Today, we continue to deliver some of the statements that may have been missed.
UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar at Monday's Siparia meeting:
“...This spirit of unity and collective effort has always been our strength, and it is this same spirit that we must now invoke to accomplish great things as a nation ... Judgement day is coming. There is nothing they can do or say to stop it! The BIG BAD UNC IS COMING!"
PNM La Horquetta/Talparo candidate Foster Cummings at Monday's La Horquetta meeting:
"This is the place where you manufacture Balisier .... Rock so! No room here for you! It have no yellow code here! This is the city of the Red Brigade! ... I hear they were choosing candidates - JJ say not me again. Somebody in their room bawl 'Judas!" They say what about the fellow called Kilowatts. Well, they could be Watty, Kilowatts, Megawatts - this is Foster Cummings town! La Horquetta belong to the PNM and Foster Cummings! Rock so! Listen to me - we going to pepper dem with licks!"
Former PNM attorney general John Jeremie at Monday's UNC Siparia meeting:
"Let’s face it: I'm the last man you would expect to see here tonight ... are you going to continue with those who have driven us to the point of crisis? The logical answer must be no. And so, this child of the PNM will urge you to do as I will on 28th April: Vote for change ... the United National Congress."
Prime Minister Stuart Young at Monday's La Horquetta meeting:
"Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the UNC are going to bankrupt T&T! Do not be fooled by people who have no plan how they going to raise money, but every plan is 'bout how they going to bankrupt T&T ... all of the people who will suffer under a UNC government - this PNM Government and me with this team will fight, fight and fight to make sure you're looked after!"
UNC Oropouche East candidate Dr Roodal Moonilal at Monday's Siparia meeting:
"Stuart Young talking about this 'new chapter' now. You know the name of this new chapter is "bankruptcy'! Is bankruptcy! They will bankrupt T& . We can't take one day of Stuart Young, Rowley and Imbert and all of them!"
PNM Mausica/Malabar candidate Dominic Romaine:
"In 2010 some were fooled ... five of the six constituencies representing the Red Wall fell ... this time they will not penetrate the Red Wall! 'Under No Circumstances!' - (that's) U.N.C. And on April 28, cast your ballot, ram yuh finger in that electoral ink up to the elbow! And if you could reach your shoulder, do dat too!"
UNC Oropouche East candidate Dr Roodal Moonilal at Monday's Siparia meeting:
"There's no third party and fourth party and fifth party! As far as Oropouche East is concerned, it will be a very tight race, it will be very close in Oropouche East. The PNM candidate is fighting hard to maintain his deposit - it's a tighter race between the PNM and he deposit and the PNM will not even win their deposit in Oropouche East, Siparia!"
PNM Arima candidate Penny Beckles at Monday's La Horquetta meeting:
"I see some of you start to get a little worried because you cannot believe some of the things you're hearing that people will take the time to make a video and just lie but they're being paid to lie ... They trying to say there's some challenge for PNM in Valencia ... but I want to tell UNC the PNM will win Valencia! Go to the polls! This is not a time for you to say ' I ent know, I ent going, I ent get a job, a house a dis or a dat - it go come after!"
UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar at Monday's Siparia meeting:
"Stuart Young now going in the supermarket and discover how high prices are?! But who was there for 10 years to have all the food prices sky high?! Are they in touch with you and understand what you face every day in T&T?!"
PPNM Arima candidate Penny Beckles at Monday's La Horquetta meeting:
"There's a long list of people abandoning the UNC ... so ask yourself: when a house on fire and people running out, what you running into the fire for? ... If you have something good and marketable, you go really be paying people to do it? I'm hearing figures like $40,000/$50,000..."
