Dur­ing the cur­rent cut and thrust of po­lit­i­cal de­bates dur­ing the on­go­ing Gen­er­al Elec­tion bat­tle, politi­cians have been de­liv­er­ing some gems and jabs on the hus­tings. To­day, we con­tin­ue to de­liv­er some of the state­ments that may have been missed.

UNC leader Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar at Mon­day's Siparia meet­ing:

“...This spir­it of uni­ty and col­lec­tive ef­fort has al­ways been our strength, and it is this same spir­it that we must now in­voke to ac­com­plish great things as a na­tion ... Judge­ment day is com­ing. There is noth­ing they can do or say to stop it! The BIG BAD UNC IS COM­ING!"

PNM La Hor­quet­ta/Tal­paro can­di­date Fos­ter Cum­mings at Mon­day's La Hor­quet­ta meet­ing:

"This is the place where you man­u­fac­ture Bal­isi­er .... Rock so! No room here for you! It have no yel­low code here! This is the city of the Red Brigade! ... I hear they were choos­ing can­di­dates - JJ say not me again. Some­body in their room bawl 'Ju­das!" They say what about the fel­low called Kilo­watts. Well, they could be Wat­ty, Kilo­watts, Megawatts - this is Fos­ter Cum­mings town! La Hor­quet­ta be­long to the PNM and Fos­ter Cum­mings! Rock so! Lis­ten to me - we go­ing to pep­per dem with licks!"

For­mer PNM at­tor­ney gen­er­al John Je­re­mie at Mon­day's UNC Siparia meet­ing:

"Let’s face it: I'm the last man you would ex­pect to see here tonight ... are you go­ing to con­tin­ue with those who have dri­ven us to the point of cri­sis? The log­i­cal an­swer must be no. And so, this child of the PNM will urge you to do as I will on 28th April: Vote for change ... the Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress."

Prime Min­is­ter Stu­art Young at Mon­day's La Hor­quet­ta meet­ing:

"Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar and the UNC are go­ing to bank­rupt T&T! Do not be fooled by peo­ple who have no plan how they go­ing to raise mon­ey, but every plan is 'bout how they go­ing to bank­rupt T&T ... all of the peo­ple who will suf­fer un­der a UNC gov­ern­ment - this PNM Gov­ern­ment and me with this team will fight, fight and fight to make sure you're looked af­ter!"

UNC Oropouche East can­di­date Dr Roodal Mooni­lal at Mon­day's Siparia meet­ing:

"Stu­art Young talk­ing about this 'new chap­ter' now. You know the name of this new chap­ter is "bank­rupt­cy'! Is bank­rupt­cy! They will bank­rupt T& . We can't take one day of Stu­art Young, Row­ley and Im­bert and all of them!"

PNM Mau­si­ca/Mal­abar can­di­date Do­minic Ro­maine:

"In 2010 some were fooled ... five of the six con­stituen­cies rep­re­sent­ing the Red Wall fell ... this time they will not pen­e­trate the Red Wall! 'Un­der No Cir­cum­stances!' - (that's) U.N.C. And on April 28, cast your bal­lot, ram yuh fin­ger in that elec­toral ink up to the el­bow! And if you could reach your shoul­der, do dat too!"

UNC Oropouche East can­di­date Dr Roodal Mooni­lal at Mon­day's Siparia meet­ing:

"There's no third par­ty and fourth par­ty and fifth par­ty! As far as Oropouche East is con­cerned, it will be a very tight race, it will be very close in Oropouche East. The PNM can­di­date is fight­ing hard to main­tain his de­posit - it's a tighter race be­tween the PNM and he de­posit and the PNM will not even win their de­posit in Oropouche East, Siparia!"

PNM Ari­ma can­di­date Pen­ny Beck­les at Mon­day's La Hor­quet­ta meet­ing:

"I see some of you start to get a lit­tle wor­ried be­cause you can­not be­lieve some of the things you're hear­ing that peo­ple will take the time to make a video and just lie but they're be­ing paid to lie ... They try­ing to say there's some chal­lenge for PNM in Va­len­cia ... but I want to tell UNC the PNM will win Va­len­cia! Go to the polls! This is not a time for you to say ' I ent know, I ent go­ing, I ent get a job, a house a dis or a dat - it go come af­ter!"

PPNM Ari­ma can­di­date Pen­ny Beck­les at Mon­day's La Hor­quet­ta meet­ing:

"There's a long list of peo­ple aban­don­ing the UNC ... so ask your­self: when a house on fire and peo­ple run­ning out, what you run­ning in­to the fire for? ... If you have some­thing good and mar­ketable, you go re­al­ly be pay­ing peo­ple to do it? I'm hear­ing fig­ures like $40,000/$50,000..."
