A 45-year-old dri­ver was kid­napped and robbed dur­ing a ve­hi­cle view­ing in Barataria yes­ter­day.

The vic­tim re­port­ed that he was in­struct­ed to take a Nis­san NP300 van ad­ver­tised for sale on Face­book Mar­ket­place to Sixth Av­enue, Barataria, near the Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre. While wait­ing, he re­ceived a call from a pri­vate num­ber di­rect­ing him to Spar­row Av­enue.

Af­ter ar­riv­ing at the new lo­ca­tion, one man ap­proached and iden­ti­fied him­self as the cus­tomer. As the vic­tim ex­it­ed the ve­hi­cle, a sec­ond man armed with a knife grabbed him from be­hind and forced him in­to the back of the van, threat­en­ing to kill him if he did not com­ply.

The sus­pects drove off in an un­known di­rec­tion. One of the men robbed the vic­tim of two Re­pub­lic Bank deb­it cards, a Sco­tia Bank cred­it card, $400 in cash and a Sam­sung cell­phone. The vic­tim was al­so forced to hand over his card PINs.

Some­time lat­er, the men dropped him off near Sec­ond Cale­do­nia Ex­ten­sion and Arneaud Av­enue be­fore es­cap­ing in the van to­wards La­dy Young Road.

Po­lice have launched an in­ves­ti­ga­tion and are seek­ing CCTV footage from the area.
