A fire which broke out at the Beetham Landfill on Friday has been extinguished and the site was expected to open with normal operating hours today.
The Trinidad and Tobago Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) said crews successfully put out the blaze which began on March 13.
The company continues work to address residual smoke at the landfill, which may intermittently affect nearby communities.
Motorists and commuters have been urged to exercise caution when travelling along the Beetham Highway and surrounding areas due to possible smoke.
SWMCOL said the facility will maintain its regular operating hours from Monday.
The company apologised for any inconvenience and said it remains committed to the safe operation of the landfill.
