A birthday celebration being planned for tomorrow by a Beetham man was cancelled by the authorities, mere hours after he was granted permission.
The event, which was carded to start at 2 am and end at 6 pm on November 10, was to be held at the Beetham Gardens Recreational Grounds.
The birthday celebrant, through a third party, would have obtained permission from the Licensing Committee, Port-of-Spain Magistrate's Court, for the event that would have seen a mini police force being assigned extra duty.
However, the decision was appealed by senior officials later that day, and permission was rescinded.
The sum of $174,000 which was paid to secure the police protection is to be refunded.
