A birth­day cel­e­bra­tion be­ing planned for to­mor­row by a Beetham man was can­celled by the au­thor­i­ties, mere hours af­ter he was grant­ed per­mis­sion.

The event, which was card­ed to start at 2 am and end at 6 pm on No­vem­ber 10, was to be held at the Beetham Gar­dens Recre­ation­al Grounds.

The birth­day cel­e­brant, through a third par­ty, would have ob­tained per­mis­sion from the Li­cens­ing Com­mit­tee, Port-of-Spain Mag­is­trate's Court, for the event that would have seen a mi­ni po­lice force be­ing as­signed ex­tra du­ty.

How­ev­er, the de­ci­sion was ap­pealed by se­nior of­fi­cials lat­er that day, and per­mis­sion was re­scind­ed.

The sum of $174,000 which was paid to se­cure the po­lice pro­tec­tion is to be re­fund­ed.
