A Yel­low Lev­el Ad­verse Weath­er Alert has been ac­ti­vat­ed for Trinidad, as of 10:45 am to­day, by the T&T Me­te­o­ro­log­i­cal Ser­vice (TTMS), and is ex­pect­ed to re­main in ef­fect un­til 4:00 pm on No­vem­ber 27.

An ad­vi­so­ry from the Met Ser­vice ex­plains:

“An ap­proach­ing trough is ex­pect­ed to bring pe­ri­ods of light to mod­er­ate show­ers with a 70% chance of heav­ier show­ers or thun­der­storms in­ter­mit­tent­ly to­day in­to to­mor­row.”

Fore­cast­ers warn of increased risk of land­slides and land­slips, es­pe­cial­ly in hilly ar­eas such as the North­ern Range. They al­so note that street/flash flood­ing and gusty winds can oc­cur in the vicin­i­ty of heavy down­pours.

The pub­lic is urged to mon­i­tor weath­er con­di­tions and as­sess sur­round­ings be­fore ven­tur­ing out. In ad­di­tion, the Met Ser­vice cau­tions against dri­ving or wad­ing through flood wa­ters.
