A Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert has been activated for Trinidad, as of 10:45 am today, by the T&T Meteorological Service (TTMS), and is expected to remain in effect until 4:00 pm on November 27.
An advisory from the Met Service explains:
“An approaching trough is expected to bring periods of light to moderate showers with a 70% chance of heavier showers or thunderstorms intermittently today into tomorrow.”
Forecasters warn of increased risk of landslides and landslips, especially in hilly areas such as the Northern Range. They also note that street/flash flooding and gusty winds can occur in the vicinity of heavy downpours.
The public is urged to monitor weather conditions and assess surroundings before venturing out. In addition, the Met Service cautions against driving or wading through flood waters.
