An­tigua po­lice have charged Alex­ta Fran­cis, 27, with the mur­der of St Pe­ter Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment, Asot Michael.

The mur­der charge fol­lows his con­fes­sion to in­ves­ti­ga­tors who had been ques­tion­ing him since his ar­rest on Thurs­day.

Fran­cis re­port­ed­ly showed in­ves­ti­ga­tors key ev­i­dence and al­so in­sist­ed he had no ac­com­plice.

The mo­tive for the fa­tal stab­bing of the leg­is­la­tor is ex­pect­ed to be re­vealed dur­ing the pend­ing court pro­ceed­ings against him.

Fran­cis, who is sched­uled to ap­pear in court on Mon­day, re­port­ed­ly has had pre­vi­ous run-ins with law, in­clud­ing Ma­li­cious Dam­age and Es­cap­ing Law­ful Cus­tody.

This is a ma­jor de­vel­op­ment with­in days of the Michael’s mur­der, which sent shock­waves across the na­tion.

Michael, who was an in­de­pen­dent leg­is­la­tor, was found in a pool of blood in his Dry Hill home on Tues­day. — ST JOHN’S, An­tigua (CMC)
